Nintendo Switch Minecraft Version

Before we begin, we have to provide some context. When Minecraft originally launched in 2011, the game was built in Java, a software platform used for various applications and games. The game was originally only available on PC due to this, but eventually Mojang the developers of Minecraft partnered with 4J Studios to port Minecraft to a number of platforms.

Eventually, Mojang was purchased by Microsoft, and they worked together to bring a new version of Minecraft to all the latest platforms. This new version of Minecraft was programmed in C++, allowing it to run on platforms that dont support Java, on top of running smoother in general. This version was unofficially dubbed the Bedrock Edition, and its the version youre probably playing if youre not specifically playing the Java Edition on PC.

The Verdict On Minecraft Switch Bedrock

Overall, Minecraft for Nintendo Switch is a great game to play for anyone who likes adventure, crafting, and survival games. In fact, its the perfect introduction if youre new to Minecraft. The game delivers some of the best performance and gameplay experiences anyone can ask for. Moreover, its a great choice if you want to try multiplayer with other console users.

However, it isnt the most ideal version of the game if youre in it for the modding community. Thats because it doesnt support mods the way the Java Edition does. Moreover, Minecraft Switch lacks the server-based gameplay many Minecraft fans enjoy.

If youre looking for a game thats more community-based, go for the regular Java Edition on PC. However, if you have a Switch and want the core Minecraft experience with multiplayer and crossplay, its the best choice.

  • If you are a home-schooled program, you must be officially recognized by a national organization or local educational institution.

  • If you are a museum, you must be an institution focused on educational purposes, or have permanent professional staff related to an educational program.
  • There is typically a subscription cost per user per year, but this can change depending on the volume of the subscription required by the institution, educator, or organization.

In other words, you can only play with other Nintendo Switch players in this version of the game. Minecraft is the more recent version of the game that runs off of the Bedrock engine.

Survival Mode & Creative Mode

Apart from the usual survival mode of Minecraft for Switch, theres also the creative mode for aspiring builders and wannabe architects. This mode is where you truly get to experience Minecrafts building capabilities. It never runs out of resources so you can build and craft to your hearts content.

This mode is much like unlimited Lego but is more intricate and complex. You can build everything from humble houses to gigantic structures, as long as you have the patience. Best of all, enemies dont attack and you wont have to worry about survival stats like hunger or health.

There is also an adventure mode where the world is more linear and RPG-like. It does prevent you from crafting as freely as in survival or creative mode. However, you can craft the basics and find materials scattered throughout the world within chests.

Tools And Functions For Educators In Minecraft: Education Edition

A bunch of children hanging out in Minecraft without educators and teachers being able to moderate them is bound to turn into giggle-filled chaos, so of course there are a ton of tools available to help define boundaries and keep students on task. This also helps educators scale lessons and challenges as needed to fit the classroom or objective.

The items available for educators and teachers to use are:

  • Chalkboard. Allows educators to outline lesson plans or instructions in game, with various sizes available.
  • Allow/deny blocks. Allows educators to specifiy areas where players can build. Allow blocks mean building is allowed, while deny blocks mean, well, the opposite.
  • Border blocks. This allows educators to define set areas in which students can roam.

Besides, can Minecraft switch play Java?

Versions of Minecraft that do not support cross-platform play, such as its original Java-based Mac/PC release and its Wii U version, will retain their Edition subtitles. For now, that will continue to apply to Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition. The Better Together update is coming to Switch, but it’s not ready yet.

Additionally, do I have to buy Minecraft again for switch? Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition will no longer be available to purchase in the eShop but existing owners can continue to play and re-download if they desire.

People also ask, is Minecraft Nintendo switch bedrock or Java?

Since you have Java, if you have Win10, go to minecraft.net and redeem your copy of Win10 edition. All devices with Bedrock share the same codebase so you can try it out on Win10. However, for a casual player, there’s really not much difference between the two. Biggest differences will be Java’s mods and combat.

A free copy of the game is available for players who purchased Minecraft: Java Edition before October 19th, 2018. More information about that can be found here.

Should You Buy ‘java Edition Or ‘bedrock Edition’

As noted above, if you’re playing on anything but a PC, you don’t have a choice.

But if you’re on a PC, we recommend the “Java” version. You get the same great gameplay, as well as thousands of mods to enhance your experience, and the massive multiplayer community. It’s the original way to play “Minecraft,” and still the best.

Minecraft Education Edition Guide: Uses Features Requirements And More

To most of the world, there are three different versions of Minecraft. The Java Edition is the original version, and it’s available on MacOS and Windows PC’s. It’s known for being big, heavy, and very powerful. It supports mods, third-party tools and software, and has a huge number of hardcore players. The Bedrock Edition is the modern version, built to span across devices, platforms, and generations with a flexible and lightweight foundation. It supports multiplayer across different platforms, private servers known as Realms, and is available on way more devices. Then there are the “legacy” versions that no longer exist, like the old Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 editions.

There’s actually one more version of Minecraft and that’s the Education Edition. This version is built off the Bedrock Edition, building in powerful features useful for teachers and educators. This is Minecraft build for schools, libraries, museums, and more. It’s not for fun, but it does make learning things like math, science, and programming fun. Here’s what you need to know.

Is Minecraft Java Edition Or Windows 10 Better

The Java edition of Minecraft is more resource intensive than the Windows 10 edition. This is more like a Java issue than a Minecraft issue. Therefore, if you dont want to modify the game further, using the Windows 10 edition is a better idea. That is all the contents of Minecraft Java edition vs Windows 10.

Players can also join Realms, which are servers that stay online all the time and dont require a host to be currently playing.

You can send invites to your Realm via your Friends tab or invite via a link if youre playing on a PC. Clicking the link will launch the Minecraft app. Console players will need to be invited via friends list.

After joining the Realm for the first time, you will be able to return to it whenever you want from your Friends tab. The Reams youve joined will appear under Joinable Realms, as long as the Realm is still online.

If You Don’t Have Access To The Full Game But Still Want Some Of The Benefits

If none of the above requirements describe you, you’re probably like me or many other people: an average person with no official educational capacity, but either wants to learn, or has someone else to teach. That’s okay, Mojang included a toggle in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition that enables the Education Edition’s chemistry features, and they made all the lesson plans and challenges on their website accessible to anyone.

To enable these features for yourself, do the following:

  • Create a new world in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. We have a guide that goes over everything you need to know about this.
  • When creating your world, set the world type to “Creative.” While you can do this in Survival, it doesn’t make much sense, as you won’t have any of the features you’re enabling.

  • Scroll down until you see the “Activate Cheats” toggle. Go ahead and flip this on. Minecraft will ask you to confirm, which you’ll want to do.
  • Right below that will be the “Education Edition” toggle. Go ahead and flip that one on too. This will enable the chemistry focused features for Minecraft.
  • Create your world. Once you’ve loaded in, you can find the chemistry features near the bottom of the Creative inventory screen.

    Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition Review

Minecraft is a great game but playing it on the Switch doesnt offer anything special in terms of game play. In fact, if you like building in Minecraft, youre better off playing the game on a desktop. The Switch version offers a way to always keep the game with you i.e., quick and easy portability. If you play the game religiously, and you happen to own a Switch, treat yourself to the Minecraft version. If youre learning or just starting to play the game, you will like it better on the desktop. There are more resources available for the desktop version. If you eventually decide you want to modify it, youll be glad you have it on PC.

‘bedrock Edition’ Has Most Consistent Performance

Although it might seem like a simple game, “Minecraft” can be incredibly taxing on your computer’s graphics card and CPU. If you’re not playing with a high-end computer, “Bedrock” might be your best bet.

While the “Java” edition lets you use mods to enhance your graphics, the “Bedrock” version runs more smoothly more consistently. This means less dropped frames and faster load times.

How Is The Education Edition Toggle Different Than Minecraft: Education Edition

Something that isn’t immediately obvious to anyone, myself included, is how Minecraft: Education Edition is actually a fully separated experience from the Bedrock Edition, and how that “Education Edition” toggle you might’ve noticed when creating a new world in Minecraft doesn’t actually enable the full Education Edtion. The reason behind this is simple: unless you’re an educator or a student being taught by an educator with access to Minecraft: Education Edition, it might as well not exist for you.

The toggle in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is completely free, but it doesn’t unlock all of the features. Instead, this toggle turns on the chemistry features for the Bedrock Edition. This means the elements, isotopes, compounds, and all the tables associated with them. The tutorial maps, admin controls, exclusive blocks and items, and some of the lesson plans and challenges can only be used if you have access to the full Education Edition.

That’s not to say the toggle is useless. If you have a child you want to stay productive at home, or if they’re staying home for some reason, the toggle still gives you and your child all the chemistry-focused features. If you’re child isn’t into chemistry , you can still combine the Bedrock Edition with the many, many lesson plans and challenges available on Mojang’s Education Edition website. They’ll just be a little more hands-on then if you had access to those admin controls and features.
