Edit The Eula And Connect
Double click the startup.bat file, or whatever you choose to call it, to see what happens. Assuming everything is up to date and you entered everything correctly, you’ll see additional files in the server folder, such as the EULA, logs, and server properties. Close out of the command window.
Right click on the EULA and select Edit. In order to move forward, you need to agree to the EULA, which means you need to change the false portion of the last line to true. Do so, save and close the text document.
Rerun the batch file. Windows’ firewall will try to keep you safe by blocking access to your network. Network access is needed, so you can ignore the warning and click Allow Access.
Your command window should show the server being prepared. It can take some time, but the command windows will notify you when it is done. When it is, you should be able to connect to the server.
Launch Minecraft Java Edition.
Key in the hosting computer’s IP address or simply type “localhost” in the server address bar.

What Is A Minecraft Server
A Minecraft server allows multiple people to play together in the same Minecraft world. This can be handled in different ways so its important to understand your options.
You can rent a server through a third-party, such as Apex Hosting or Hostinger. It does nearly everything for you, but you need to pay a monthly service fee for it. This can be as low as $5, depending on the service you use.
You can run a server yourself. This saves you paying a monthly fee as well as giving you complete control over how your server is handled. This article focuses on making your own Minecraft server without using a third-party.
Minecraft also runs personal multiplayer servers, called Realms, just for you and your friends. With a Realm, your Minecraft world is online and always accessible, even when you log off.
How Much Will The Server Cost
The pricing of the Minecraft hosting plans differ from one company to another and from one plan to another.
As mentioned previously, you can find basic plans which cost just about 2-3 dollars per month, and there are premium plans which can cost $100 and more every month.
Usually, the price increases when the RAM and player slots increase, and other features like plugins, mods are added.
If you want to host your Minecraft server at home, you should be prepared to pay between $500 and $1,000 for a powerful computer that can host and run the Minecraft server seamlessly. And if your internet bandwidth is not sufficient, you may need to opt for a pricier plan from your ISP.

Minecraft Server: Own Home Server Or Rent A Server
If you want to create and run your own Minecraft server, you will first need the appropriate hardware. In theory, a home PC is adequate for this but this also depends on the desired number of players and server setting. For three to five players, for example, the Minecraft team recommends three gigabytes of RAM, 18 gigabytes of hard drive space, and broadband resources of at least 12 MBit for the game. In addition, there are the requirements of the operating system for Windows 10, this would be another one or two gigabytes of RAM and 16 or 32 gigabytes of hard drive space .
These key numbers already make it clear that you cannot run other programs in parallel to the Minecraft server on the respective PC, so it functions exclusively as a host. The purchase of a second PC in addition to your normal device not only takes up the home broadband quota, but also means additional running costs in terms of power consumption. It is probably only an option for very few Minecraft enthusiasts.

Rentable server resources are also referred to as Infrastructure-as-a-Service , which is IT infrastructure provided to users by a provider as part of a service.

Connecting To Your Minecraft Server
Now lets connect to the server. The very first step is to run our batch file to launch the server.
With the server launched, open your Minecraft launch page and make sure you load the version of Minecraft that matches the jar you downloaded. As of the writing of this article, Minecraft version 1.15 was the latest version and the server that was downloaded. However, if this becomes outdated I can make a new server or simply load up the 1.15 version of Minecraft. It will be a good idea to make a launch version of Minecraft that we can always connect to our server with. To do this you can go to the Installations tab and click the +New button.
Once here, you should name the installation with the server and version number of Minecraft and select the version as the release number your server download is. This is shown below for version 1.15 so make sure you change this to your Minecraft server version. Make sure to click create to finish this installation.
Next find it in your list and click Play to launch Minecraft.
Once Minecraft is launched go to the Multiplayer tab.
Once in the multiplayer tab, click Add Server.
Once this is done you should see your server made and trying to connect. If you have a failed connection, check the ip address you entered as well as the port forwarding settings. If you see a green connection bar with open spots to connect to your server, you can launch in and enjoy playing in your very own custom server!
Agree To The Minecraft Eula And Set Server Properties
We’ll start by adjusting the configuration files before starting the server. The first file to open is the Minecraft EULA. The EULA is the document you are agreeing to when running the Minecraft Server.
To accept the end user license agreement, open the EULA txt file and update eula=false to eula=true. Save the file.
To adjust server settings, open the server properties file and save the file once the necessary changes have been made. If you’re wondering how to adjust server settings, the server properties file determines key server settings like server port, memory, and in game settings. Port 25565 is the default server port.
