Minecraft Java Edition: All You Need To Know

Some of you might not know that Minecraft game, including the Java Edition, is not available for free download, even on official Microsoft and Mojang websites. Before, on these platforms, players could legitimately play the game for free. In other words, they can spend endless hours on the common indie sandbox without paying anything.

Nonetheless, as of now, its not the case. In order to enjoy the full version of the game, you need to spend some pennies, $26.95 to be exact. Even if the game might open for a lifetime, eventually you would thirst for some exclusive items, which are not free of charge, to take advantage of all parts of the game. That is the reason why its suggested for you to find a way to play the game for free as well as enjoying the most outstanding items and features. Do not pay anything for the full rewards, especially when youre under budget since Minecraft is truly a considerable expense.

What Is Different About The Minecraft Education Edition

Minecraft Java Edition Redeem Code

Minecraft Education Edition is different to both the base game of Minecraft and other Minecraft education softwares because it is officially developed by Mojang specifically for use within a classroom or otherwise educational setting.

This version of the game allows up to 30 people to play in the same game, without any servers needing to be set up. The creator of the game, such as a teacher, can fully control which blocks are available to other players and where they can and cannot place them, meaning that no one can build with different blocks before they are permitted to.

You can also limit the players to staying in one specific area of the map, which means that you dont have to stop the class in order to fetch back wandering children.

Lesson plans are also available to be downloaded, with different ones available depending on the age range of the class and what subjects you wish to teach .

Lesson plans that you have created yourself can also be uploaded for other teachers to see and use.

Is Minecraft A Good Coding Introduction For Kids

The real key to teaching a child coding is finding the right motivation. Minecraft offers that as it combines a fun game they love, with a gentle introduction to coding functionality.

The way Minecraft engrosses kids can be used to help engage them to learn about something useful in a fun way that doesnt feel like work.

Minecraft can be enhanced by modifications that are outside strings of code that changes the game from the inside, such as generating monsters, giving players increased health or items and even telling the non-playable characters to do specific things.

These mods are usually downloaded through a third-party website, with players sharing their own mods among the online community for everyone to use, but you can easily create your own mods to enhance your own gaming experience exactly how you want it.

Because of the relative simplicity of Minecraft as a game, learning how to modify it is a good steppingstone to learning to manipulate and create code for other games and programs.

Getting Your Tools: Java & Eclipse

First things first youre going to need the Java Development Kit . You can find it on Oracles website here. As Oracle puts it on their website: The JDK is a development environment for building applications, applets, and components using the Java programming language. To explain a bit on that, you might think of your Minecraft mod as a component in that context.

In any case, once youve installed the Java Development Kit, next youll need the Eclipse IDE. An IDE is an Integrated Development Environment, and at a first glance you might think IDEs are fancy text editors for writing code in, although they have a lot of features to help us with our programming beyond that.

In any case, the Eclipse IDE is our go-to tool and is perhaps the most popular IDE for writing Java. Download the Eclipse installer here, and when you start it up, you should get prompted with a window similar to this:

Feel free to check the Use this as the default and do not ask again box if youll only be using Eclipse for your Minecraft modding, as youll be able to manage multiple projects in this workspace. Otherwise, click that Launch button at the bottom and were ready to move on to the next step.

Set Up Your Text Editor

How To Code Minecraft!

Before we begin Minecraft modding, well need to download some tools.

First, for this guide, we are going to download the Eclipse IDE, one of the most popular professional text editors for Java in the world.

To download the installer and look for the Get Eclipse IDE 2020-06 Download area that looks like this:

Find the executable file in your download file and open it to launch the Eclipse installer.

When the launcher opens, select the Eclipse IDE for Java Developers.

Then on the next window, keep the default install location and then click the INSTALL button.

The next window will appear and you need to accept the agreement for Eclipse.

Then the next window will prompt to make sure you accept the license Agreement.

Checkmark the Remember accepted licenses box and accept the Eclipse Foundation Software User Agreement.

Once this is accepted, you are almost done with the install.

Just accept the Eclipse Foundation certificate as shown in the image below.

Once this is done, Eclipse will be downloaded and ready for when we need to use it to write our code.

The next step is going to be installing the Java Developer Kit which will let our code work properly with Minecraft.

Enjoy Your Multiplayer Minecraft Server

And there you have it! You are now running your own Minecraft server and you can have all your friends join it as you wish.

There are many things you can do with your own server such as manage game settings, customizing your own white-list, adding your own mods, and allocating however much memory that you have to spare. We suggest starting small before you get too crazy.

Minecraft can quickly eat up resources that many people dont have at home and you may find your computer struggles to handle everything you want it to do. Please also remember to not share your IP address publicly or with anyone you dont know or trust.

Set Up Port Forwarding

Warning: This is probably the most challenging part of the tutorial and its also the section that can cause security risks. Ensure you have a parent with you when you complete this step and do not download anything extra.

Port forwarding is required if you want your friends to connect to your server when they are connected to a different internet connection that you are connected to. Unfortunately, this step will be different depending on which router you are using. I will list the steps that it takes to get my Xfinity router set-up for port forwarding, but you will have to research your own router and follow its steps.

The first step for me is navigating to the Port Forwarding section on Xfinitys website. I found this by googling How to Port Forward my Xfinity Router so I suggest a similar search for you, but with your specific routers name.

The next step for me had common configurations to use, including Minecraft, so I went ahead and chose that. If you dont have this option, the important thing to know is to use port number 25565 for Minecraft.

Any other port number will not work. Note that I blocked off my IP Address, this is the part that you want to keep secure from people you do not know or trust. Depending on your router, they may reserve a custom IP address for you . If thats the case, this is the IP Address you will provide to your friends. If they do not reserve one for you, you will have to use your own IP address.

Creating A Custom Tool

How to decompile and mod a java app (minecraft launcher ...

Let’s make a simple spear, with damage ability similar to a stone sword.

So, to start off with we need to make a new directory called tools in your package. Next create a new Java enum called ModItemTier. In this file you need to type a variant of the following:

Next, you need to register your item. Go to your item registry class and make a new item like the one here:

publicstaticfinalRegistryObject< SwordItem> NAME_SPEAR=ITEMS.register-> newSwordItem).tab))

The numbers are the base attack damage and the speed modifier, the values chosen for the example are intermediate between a sword and an axe.

After this, you need to make a JSON file in src/main/resources/assets/examplemod/models/item called what you set earlier, like so:

}

Then, go to your textures folder and input the texture you will make in the next step. If you want to know more about durability I recommend this page.

Custom Layers over Vanilla Textures

This section is a work in progress.

Textures from Scratch

Open an image editor, preferably one that supports transparency, and create a new image, with a size that is a multiple of 16×16

Creating a 32×32 pixel canvas in GIMP

This example is using a 32×32 pixel image and is made in GIMP.

Create your file, making sure it is in pixels and not inches, millimetres, or any other measurement.

Create a new layer, and delete the original canvas. If you don’t do that, then your image will have a white background.
