Best Budget Pc For 1440p Gaming
This PC comes pretty well kitted out, boasting an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 paired with 16GB of DDR4 memory clocked at 3,000MHz. That’s definitely enough horsepower to keep your system running smooth. Factor in the RTX 3060, and you’ll be gaming with the best of them. The CPU might not hit 300fps at 1080p and the GPU might not fare much better at 4K, but they’ll strike a great balance in 1440p that can net you quality visuals and smooth frames for a great gaming experience.
Minecraft Surival Mode Vs Creative Mode
In the survival mode, as the name suggests, you have to survive against the forces of nature. You have to take care of your hunger and health, collect and harvest resources, build weapons, structures, and simple fortifications to fend of against MOBS.
The creative mode, on the other hand, is aimed more toward casual builders. You have all the resources available to you and you do not have to worry about health, hunger or enemies.
Increasing The Amount Of Ram In Minecraft
If you are experiencing lags with your game, particularly if you set the graphics settings to very high with texture and shader mods installed, then you may need to allocate more RAM to the game.
To allocate more RAM to Minecraft you need to follow these steps:
In the Edit Installation settings window, perform the following steps:
Do not go beyond the amount of RAM you have in your PC!
In fact, if you have 8 GB DDR4 RAM, do not allocate more than 5-6 GB of RAM to the game. The rest of 2-3 GB of RAM should be left reserved for the system and background apps.

Cheap Pc Build Parts: The Cpu
While NVIDIA wins in the GPU category, AMD dominates at providing superb CPUs for cheap gaming computers. Its Ryzen chips offer spectacular bang for your buck. Ryzen R3 2200G posits itself perfectly for home theater PC and light gaming use.
With AMD Vega 8 graphics onboard, it’s feasible to use the Ryzen R3 2200G sans GPU.
Though integrated graphics typically struggle even dialed back to low, the Ryzen 2200G manages around 30FPS in most titles at 1080p, and even hits 60FPS on recent but less demanding titles such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive .
The Ryzen 3 1200 performs roughly the same as the 2200G and is an excellent option if you don’t need the onboard graphics. Since the 2200G doesn’t quite output graphic on par with a GT 1030, I suggest pairing it with a dedicated GPU for better FPS in PUBG, Minecraft, and Fortnite.
Ultimately, the 2200G is faster than the 1200, so I suggest sticking with the Ryzen 3 2200G.
- Ryzen 5 2400G: Performs slightly better than the 2200G, but not up to the level of a GT 1030.
- Ryzen 5 1600: An AMD consideration if you don’t need integrated graphics, and is my CPU of choice. I use it in conjunction with a GTX 1060 3GB.
- Intel Pentium G4560: A dual-core CPU which touts hyperthreading, thus competing with budget quad-core CPUs.
Winner: AMD Ryzen 3 2200G
I $300 Gaming Pc Build Overview
Not everybody has thousands of dollars to spend on a high-end gaming computer. However, the reality is that spending thousands of dollars on a gaming PC isnt always necessary. And, if youre someone who currently has a cheap laptop or older desktop that cant run any of todays top games, all you probably care about is getting a system that will at least let you play your favorite games.
With the $300 gaming PC build listed below, youll be able to run most of todays popular games on lower settings on a 1080P monitor.
This $300 build comes with an AMD Ryzen 3 3200G APU, a 240GB SSD, and 8GB of DDR4 memory. The 3200G has decent integrated graphics built into it that can handle most games out there on at least minimum settings.
The build also comes with a 500W power supply that will easily be able to power a mid-range graphics card later down the road, when you are ready to upgrade. In fact, this build is really just a couple of upgrades away from being a really powerful mid-range system. But well talk about potential upgrades further down in the post. For now, here is the part list that will help you build a solid cheap gaming PC for under $300:
*NOTE: Weve also linked to an affordable pre-built gaming PC, too. So, while youll get more performance out of the build listed below, if you absolutely dont want to build a PC yourself, the pre-built desktop we have linked to will serve as a viable alternative.

How To Build The Ultimate Cheap Gaming Computer
Ultimately, you’ve got tons of options for certain components such as motherboards, RAM, hard drives, and power supplies. The most essential elements in determining cheap gaming computers are the CPU and GPU.
AMD touts better price to performance for CPUs, while NVIDIA easily topples AMD with GPUs.
If you’d prefer to go the laptop route, you might consider an external GPU. Unfortunately, external GPUs simply don’t stack up against a traditional GPU that’s connected directly to the motherboard.
You’ll see a performance dip of about 10-15%. You’re probably better off with a desktop GPU rather than an external GPU.
Opting to build your own own computer rather than buying a pre-built system for Fortnite lowers the cost substantially. A rig specced out as such clocks in around $600-700, and you can build your own gaming computer for probably around $200 less.
For even more savings, consider dropping the GTX 1050 Ti, and simply using the onboard Vega 8 graphics. But throwing in the 1050 Ti ensures that you can play virtually any game you throw at your gaming rig.

If We’re Making Some Suggestions
Any of the above laptops in our collection will run Minecraft without issue, though if you’re still wondering where to turn, we can offer further guidance. If you want a reliable laptop that’s equally capable of handling productivity work as it runs Minecraft, Acer’s Swift 3 is an excellent choice.
It has a 14-inch FHD display with an IPS panel, and it’s all built into a slim chassis. The keyboard is backlit, and it has a Precision touchpad. A built-in fingerprint reader resides in the palm rest. Performance hardware is enough to keep up with Minecraft and standard productivity work thanks to an AMD Ryzen 7 4700U CPU, 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM, and a 512GB NVMe SSD. AMD has improved its integrated graphics with its 4000-series mobile chips, so you should have no issues running Minecraft at a smooth framerate.
The Acer Swift 3 will handle a standard game of Minecraft. Still, if you’re looking to play Java Edition with some of the best Minecraft shaders or want to get in on RTX upgrades to the Bedrock Edition, a more powerful gaming PC is recommended. Enter the Lenovo Legion 5 Pro, a laptop capable of handling whatever games you throw its way.
It will handle all versions of Minecraft, and it will also be up to the task of running modern AAA games. Be sure to have a look at our roundup of the overall best gaming laptops for far more options.

Do You Need A Good Laptop For Minecraft
You dont need to spend a lot of money to get a good laptop for Minecraft. At around $700, the Acer Swift 3 offers plenty of power for Minecraft and day-to-day use, and you can run Minecraft with even less. If you want a good laptop for Minecraft, stick with a machine that includes a dedicated graphics card.
Does Minecraft Benefit From A Higher Core Count
While you will often hear that Minecraft utilizes no more than 2 cores at a time. In reality, Minecraft JAVA Edition can distribute the workload for certain tasks IF you have mods like Sodium or Optifine installed.
Image: Map Loading Time with 1, 2, 4, 6,8 and 12 Cores. Source: Seaiter YT Channel
The image above shows the example of a task that directly benefits from a higher core count. The Map Loading task shows the 12 Core processor clearly winning the race with 71% of the Minecraft world loaded while a Single Core processor still hasnt even started loading the map yet at 0%.
This is just one example of a task that requires a high core count. The actual in game graphics generation and settings such as the Biome Blend and Render Distance are hugely impacted by the cores you have.
The following video, albeit in French, shows how having more cores affect the in-game performance. In short, the more cores you have, the quicker the high quality and complex assets can be loaded.

Should You Build A Gaming Pc Or Get A Console
No just no. Do not get a console. Are you kidding me? Im offended!
Joking aside, there are two sides to this question as well. Yes, I am a diehard PC fan. But one of my favorite video games happens to be Madden. And, up until Madden 2019, Madden wasnt available on PC. So, if I wanted to play Madden in the past, I also had to have an XBox One.
Or, if you want to play a game like Red Dead Redemption 2, youll need a console to play it, as it isnt available on PC If youre a baseball fan and you want to play MLB The Show, your only option is to get a PlayStation 4.
So, before you go out and build a new budget gaming computer, you need to make sure that you understand that certain games arent available on PC. But, at the same time, what you lose on a console, you gain on a PC. There are also plenty of games that are exclusive to PC, like, for instance, League of Legends
And, overall, the in-game experience on a PC is better than it is on a console. Thats simply because on the PC you can play with better visuals, more detailed graphics, and smoother gameplay. And, of course, on average, PC games tend to be cheaper and there are also a lot more of them.
So, while a console will cost you less upfront , if you buy a lot of games, in the long run, a PC will win out. Ultimately, though, if youre like me, you just get both and enjoy the best of both worlds. Problem solved.

How To Upgrade This Build
The best part about this $300 gaming PC is that, with just a couple of upgrades, it can go from being an entry-level 1080P gaming PC, to a mid-range gaming PC that can max out pretty much any game you throw at it.
Heres how I would upgrade this computer to get it to a mid-range gaming computer:
1. The first upgrade Id make would be to add a mid-range GPU
The following GPUs would make for a good upgrade:
- GTX 1650
- GTX 1660
- RX 5600 XT
If it were my system, Id shoot for either a GTX 1660 or RX 5600 XT. These will be more than enough to handle any game on a 1080P monitor right now and in the coming years. And, the good news is that, you wont need to upgrade your power supply before jumping up to either of those options.
2. The second upgrade Id make would be to upgrade to a mid-range CPU
The motherboard in this build will support newer Ryzen processors with a BIOS update. The following two options would be nice mid-range upgrades:
You could also check out the older Ryzen 7 2700 or 2700X if you could utilize the extra cores. And, on the extreme end, theres the Ryzen 7 3700X as well. But, if it were me and I had a moderate budget to upgrade my CPU, Id look at either the 3600 or the 3600X.
3. The third upgrade Id make would be to add a second 8GB stick of RAM
4. The fourth upgrade Id make would be to add more storage
